Discount codes are a powerful tool to attract customers, boost sales, and reward loyal attendees. Whether you're running a special promotion, offering early bird pricing, or encouraging repeat purchases, setting up discount codes correctly is key to maximizing their impact.

How to

Discount codes at the global level

If you want your discount codes to apply to all your events without having to create them multiple times, it's best to set them up in the global space.

Simply go to Box Office > Promotion > Discount Codes

Discount codes at the event level

If you want your discount codes to apply only to a specific event, it's best to create them at the event level.

Simply go to your Event Overview > Promotion > Discount Codes

Essential settings

When you begin creating your first discount, you'll be prompted to fill in the essential settings.

Code

This is the code you'll promote: the one your customers will use to claim the discount you've offered.

Type

The discount can be either a fixed amount or a percentage. Percentage discounts are often preferred as they are easier for customers to understand and more appealing in promotions.

Value

This is the actual value assigned to the code. If you enter 50, it will be $50.00 for a fixed discount (assuming the event currency is set to USD) or 50% for a percentage-based discount.

Advanced settings

Rules

By default, the discount applies to the order total. However, if you'd like to restrict its use, you can apply it only to specific ticket types in the basket.

Validity

You can optionally set a time window during which the code is valid and can be redeemed.

Available quantity

By default, the discount code can be used an unlimited number of times. However, you can set a specific quantity (e.g., 20, 30, or 50) to limit the number of times it can be redeemed. Once the limit is reached, the code will no longer be valid.

Notes

This is a private field, not visible to customers. Use it to add any internal notes or reminders related to the discount code.

Automatic discount link

Discount codes come with a unique link that automatically applies the code to your customers' baskets when they visit the event page, making the redemption process seamless and hassle-free.

Simply click the link icon to copy the URL to your clipboard.
